Abstract

One of the main aims of the Open Document Architecture (ODA) is to support the interchange of documents in open networks. In this paper the authors describe main concepts of their prototype converting documents between ODA and proprietary information architectures of IBM. This converter enables document interchange from and to the DisplayWrite editor family. Additionally, general insights into the use of ODA as an intermediate architecture in a heterogeneous environment are described.

The work was partly sponsored by the ESPRIT project No. 2374 of the European Community.
