Zusammenfassung

Der Beitrag diskutiert mögliche technische Weiterentwicklungen für das Wissenschaftsnetz (WIN) des DFN-Vereins. Zu Beginn werden der augenblickliche Stand sowie der Pilotbetrieb für die Erweiterung auf Zugänge mit 2Mb/s beschrieben. Im anschließenden Hauptteil werden wesentliche technische Aspekte von Netztechniken beschrieben, die zur Zeit für eine Erweiterung des WIN auf Zugänge mit 34Mb/s untersucht werden: Schnelles X.25, Frame Relay, ATM, MAN (DQDB). Dabei werden auch bereits laufende oder in Vorbereitung befindliche Pilotprojekte skizziert. Eine kurze Beschreibung des T3-Backbones des NSFNET und eine zusammenfassende Betrachtung beschließen den Beitrag.
