Abstract
In the past decade, there has been a considerable amount of effort in the design, analysis, implementation of highly reliable computing systems for critical real-time applications. The computing power per unit cost is increasing continuously due to rapid advances in semiconductor technology. The amount of functions to be automated in any complex real-time system is also increasing. These two factors coerce the designer to think of highly sophisticated complex computing systems for such applications.
