Abstract

The intention is to provide information about knowledge-based galenical development of drug products. As result from a systems analysis, types of knowledge needed in galenical development will be presented. The Galenical Development System Heidelberg (GSH), currently under construction, aims at reducing time and material needed for the galenical development of drug products by carrying out ‘theoretical experiments’ by the computer using such galenical knowledge before testing drug products in practical experiments for the sake of the pharmacist and ultimately for the sake of the physician and the patient as well.
