Abstract
Conceived in 1982 the Hospital Information System (“Krankenhausinformationssystem”, KIS) constitutes a system for the support of all administrative and clinical functions in hospitals. Through modularization it provides a flexible answer to the protean nature of the organisational workload, allowing the combination of basic functions to meet the requirements of the individual users (customization) while at the same time ensuring maximum compatibility between and within existing and prospective hardware configurations.
