Abstract

An artificial neural network recognition method for human faces has been developed. The method utilizes a connectionistic approach of a multi-layered artificial neural network, based on the supervised back-propagation learning algorithm. After an introduction into the general field of computer-based recognition of human faces, related problems and the requirements needed for implementation are discussed. After a brief description of the back-propagation algorithm, the development and implementation of the proposed method will be presented and experimental results related to human face identification reported.
