Abstract
The aim of this chapter is to lay out a roadmap of artificial intelligence and argumentation research, summarising the key points in the development of the interdisciplinary field. By showing where such collaboration has been successful, it becomes easier to see the points at which renewed interaction between the fields might yield substantial gains. These points of potential growth are then briefly discussed to motivate and position the work described in the subsequent chapters.
