Abstract

One of the main goals of Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) is to provide safety for both the drivers and passengers of vehicles. Collecting and analyzing road traffic data seem to be the first step towards safety related application in ITS. However security issues while collecting and transmitting traffic data need to be properly handled before the full adoption of those systems. Vehicular Cloud (VC) which combines vehicle ad hoc networks (VANETs) and cloud computing (CC) presents a promising paradigm for ITS. In this paper, we present a secure traffic data transmission protocol for vehicular cloud. We make use of ID-based signature and anonymous credential techniques to allow registered vehicles to anonymously transmit the traffic data within the vehicle’s sensors.
