Abstract

In practical approach of power system scenario, the voltage instability and voltage collapse have been very important consideration due to their stress operation. So the location of flexible AC transmission system (FACTS) helps to improve power system performance. The FACTS is a power electronic based system. It is used to enhance the power system controllability and transfer capability. In this paper investigate the comparison analysis of transient stability is achieved using particle swarm optimization, Genetic algorithm and Biogeography based optimization. These algorithms are used to optimally locate STATCOM device. The various operating condition like without STATCOM, with STATCOM, with STATCOM tuned by PSO, BBO and GA are used to evaluate the performance of the proposed system. The simulation results have been obtained by PSAT software. The main aim is to identify best computational algorithm and to improve voltage stability in modern power system.
