Abstract
Digital humanities is an inter-discipline of digital technologies and humanities. The main direction of current digital humanities researches is to use the latest digital technologies to present the existing historical relics in a more intuitive way, yet there are relatively few studies on how users can more effectively and efficiently get information from multiple data levels and dimensions. In this work, we present a visual interactive system designed to study the academic career of well-known scholars. We provide the detailed design and apply it to the dataset of Tsung-Dao Lee’s academic papers. In the case study, our proposed system can effectively enhance user’s understanding of the underlying relationships in data and help to explore the scholar’s scientific life and academic activities. A key contribution of this paper is to provide a novel way of applying visualization technology to digital humanities research.
