Abstract
The aim of the article is to build a process model of Continuous Improvement for design support systems, the Internet of Things (IoT) and manufactured scalable systems. The developed model was based on the experience of the authors obtained during the design process of IoT nodes. That is why the article presents both the research experiment and the extent to which this experiment pointed to the need to design the manufacturing environment. To achieve this goal, the article is divided into four main parts.
In the beginning a project was presented, which goal was to create an IoT node. During its implementation, there were requirements for the system that would be used to monitor the status of IoT nodes and data flow. Therefore, the second chapter presents the functionalities of the manufacturing environment necessary for both designing the nodes and monitoring their condition. They were then referred to as Application Enablement Platform (AEP) functionalities used in IoT to assess their usefulness in improving the monitoring and maintenance processes of IoT nodes. This method shows how important it is to perceive the design process of IoT systems as a continuous process of incremental construction of the design environment for the implementation of the functionality of IoT systems.
