Abstract

Modern agriculture is at the forefront of technological transformation. Smart agricultural technology and mechanical automation are bringing unprecedented opportunities and challenges to the field. This study aims to address the challenges faced by traditional egg production in Taiwan. We have developed an egg sorting system that combines a lightweight robotic arm and a smart egg tray. The system integrates machine vision technology, using the CenterNet technique to rapidly identify the position of eggs and precisely handles them through a lightweight robotic arm. Simultaneously, the smart egg tray, equipped with pressure sensors, monitors the status of the eggs placed on the tray in real-time, ensuring efficient egg positioning. Experimental results show that the system’s accuracy rate for egg positioning and egg picking reaches up to 99%. Additionally, the smart egg tray can instantly display the quantity and position of the placed eggs. This system holds the potential to enhance egg production efficiency, reduce costs, and promote the modernization and sustainable development of agriculture.
