Abstract
Information Communication Technology (ICT) revolution has brought enormous changes to the world. The process of digitalization also impacted on the modern design education, including architecture and urban design. It has become an urgent problem for practitioners that how to conduct innovative practices by involving ICT. This study is aimed at contributing to the literature of computer augmented urban design education and its pedagogical meaning. A practical case of extracurricular research project conducted by students in Ningbo Tech University was analysed to introduce an entire process of design practice (including site investigation, data collection and analysis, and design generation). Moreover, a research-led teaching practice was highlighted, which improves students’ ability to use ICT in urban design.
