Abstract
The notion of statistical knowledge enhancement systems is contrasted with that of statistical expert systems. The former are intended to provide much more flexible access to a body of statistical expertise. The KENS system is outlined and the assessments of users of the system are summarised. As a consequence of these evaluations two new systems are under development, and these are outlined.
