Optimal specification of incentive remuneration systems

Summary

Setting of the problem: entrepreneurs try to fix the parameters of the wage function — in addition to their product prices — in order to maximize their profits, assuming that the employees maximize their ophelimity. The wage formula expresses wage rates in terms of — inter alia — productivity of labour and quality of the product, while the employee's ophelimity depends on — at least — all three variables. The resulting “optimal“ remuneration systems are derived, and their implications and sensitivities are examined.

Zusammenfassung

Problemrahmen: Unternehmer versuchen die Parameter der Lohnformeln gleich wie die Produktpreise so zu bewerten, daß sie ihren Gewinn maximieren unter der Voraussetzung, daß die Arbeitnehmer ihre Ophelimität maximieren. Die Lohnformel macht den Lohnsatz abhängig von (u. A.) der Arbeitsproduktivität und den Produktpreisen, während die Ophelimität der Arbeitnehmer durch (mindestens) alle drei Variablen bestimmt wird. Die sich daraus ergebenden optimalen Entlohnungssysteme werden auf ihre Folgen und Empfindlichkeiten studiert.
