Abstract

Intelligent systems are required in knowledge engineering, computer science, mechatronics, and robotics. This article discusses machine (system) intelligence from the viewpoints of the learning and adaptation of living things. We then introduce computational intelligence, including neural networks, fuzzy systems, and genetic algorithms, and end with a discussion of recent work on computational intelligence in robotics.
