Abstract

THE WEED KEY AND IDENTIFICATION SYSTEM/VIDEODISC was created as a learning support tool for the study of 181 weed species found in the northeastern United States. This criteria-based search system enables the identification of plant species based on characteristics selected by the user. The weed database displays textual and graphic information as well as provides access to videodisc images from the Weed Key and Identification Videodisc. This set of HyperCard stacks and videodisc was developed through a Faculty Technology Initiative grant to Dr. Nathan Hartwig, professor of weed science, from CBEL—Teaching and Learning Technologies at the Pennsylvania State University.
