IT steigert die Supply-Chain-Leistung — immer?

Abstract

Software für das Supply Chain Management (SCM) kann die Supply-Chain-Leistung deutlich steigern. Mittels einer Befragung von 319 Firmen untersuchen wir, inwieweit dies unter verschiedenen Umständen der Fall ist. Dabei zeigt sich, dass bei stark schwankender Nachfrage die interne Prozessleistung deutlich stärker als bei geringen Schwankungen verbessert werden kann. IT-Systeme steigern die Kommunikationsfähigkeit zudem eher dann, wenn Firmen wenige Großkunden besitzen. Die eigene Firmengröße hingegen beeinflusst den Beitrag von IT auf die Supply-Chain-Leistung nicht. IT-Manager sollten diese Rahmenbedingungen gründlich analysieren, bevor sie IT-Investitionsentscheidung im SCM treffen.
