Abstract
In this paper, we present an approach to the representation of temporal knowledge described in Natural Language discourse. For this purpose, we chose the framework of Discourse Representation Theory (DRT), which can be used as a theory for knowledge representation. Basing our work on precise linguistic analysis of time expression in French, we propose an extension to DRT for the temporal reference calculus, that takes temporal adverbials into account.
We show the complete processing of a Natural Language text. This includes syntactic and semantic analysis in a single framework. We propose a computational model for the semantic representation of sentences, extending the Three Branched Quantified Tree formalism. We then introduce a formalism for discourse representation, which integrates sentence representations.
