Abstract

The AEA Technology Monte Carlo probabilistic safety assessment program Mascot has been parallelised using portable library constructs. The serial code ran on a Cray-YMP supercomputer, but is inherently unable to make use of its vector facilities, although it is amenable to a Task-farm approach. Results are presented comparing the parallelised code running on a heterogeneous mix of workstations in Harwell with their Cray-YMP. In addition, good scaling behaviour is demonstrated on a dedicated distributed memory machine.
