Abstract

A system is described which makes use of a high performance mechanical camera mount and parallel processing elements to demonstrate that a surveillance system may be enhanced through automation. The mechanical system provides a controllable platform for a video camera system. The system processes video data to detect and track a moving target and to control the movements of the camera mount so that the target is held in view.
