Abstract
We consider generative mechanisms similar to contextual grammars with infinite sets of contexts, such that the contexts are also generated in a contextual way (by adjoining contexts, depending on given selectors). In this way one generalizes a proposal from [6], where grammars generating sets of contexts are suggested (here we also use the produced contexts in order to generate a language). We investigate such two-level contextual grammars with finite or regular choice or without choice, at each of the two levels. All the relations between the nine families obtained in this way (only five are distinct), and between them and Chomsky families or usual contextual language families are settled. Two further variants are then proposed; for one of them, the relationships between the corresponding families are settled (all the nine families are now distinct).
