Abstract

Previous work by the authors has resulted in the development of a new style of knowledge representation which is specifically designed to meet the requirements of knowledge bases for practising designers. The functionality of this style of KB is being extended and enhanced and this work is described. Also an examination of the use of spreadsheets for formulating and maintaining design KBs is presented, the rationale being that spreadsheets are a familiar form of software in Engineering design offices and hence would prove easier for designers to use than specialist software.
