Abstract
Our expert system for creativity management focuses on the major dichotomies or critical choices found to be present during the creative process. There are two main goals that we plan to accomplish in this project: development of an increased understanding of decision processes employed by creative technologists and construction of a prototype expert system embodying the Ginn model. The expert system serves as a vehicle for expressing ideas about the management of research and development projects in an explicit and testable form and provides a tool so that others can try out these ideas and give us feedback. As our ideas about the system solidify, we will add a rule editor, a rule checking facility, statistical reports, and other improvements in the interface. We plan to refine, test, and validate the system by distributing it to managers in technologically intense research and development laboratories.
