Abstract
A circuit, based on a single gyrator, that possesses a programmable voltage-controlled characteristic impedance is reported. This characteristic impedance can be made real, imaginary, infinite or zero, and positive or negative, as desired by controlling the ratio of two control voltage sources. Hence, an imaginary resistor (jR) is indirectly realizable in the form of a characteristic impedance. Experimental results and circuit simulations are provided to prove the functionality of the design.
