On the interdependence between shuffle and crossing-over operations

Abstract.

 We investigate the link between the crossing-over operation on languages as a formal model of the linkage and recombination of genes in chromosomes, and the shuffle operation on languages. The obtained results indicate a strong connection between the two operations.
