Abstract
The findings of the Electronic Commerce Enquête 97/98, one of the largest empirical investigations of electronic commerce issues in the German-speaking world, reveal a large discrepancy between the theoretically huge potential for Web-based electronic commerce and the relatively small number of actual implementations. The research documents the assessment of more than 900 companies of the barriers, the implications, and their success with Web-based electronic commerce.
