Summary
In January 2004 a free-flow multilane road pricing system based on microwave-DSRC technology was introduced on the Austrian high-ranking road network. The system foresees the payment of an individual distance and vehicle-class-related tax for each vehicle with a permissible maximum weight (PMW) exceeding 3.5 tons. The proposed article deals with the utilization of the existing anonymized toll data for the purpose of traffic system applications, particularly for the generation of traffic information.
