Abstract

The theory of constraints (TOC) supply chain replenishment system (TOC-SCRS) is one of the effective inventory replenishment methods. When it is deployed in a plant or a central warehouse with capacity constraints (CC), TOC-SCRS faces a conflict problem between setup frequency (SF) and production quantity (PQ). This paper presents a novel approach to solve the conflict problem by using particle swarm optimization and genetic algorithms. An optimization approach that consists of two optimization stages is constructed to realize high PQ and fast SF for TOC-SCRS with CC. An illustrative example about how to optimize SF is presented to demonstrate the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed approach.
