Personal recollections of Peter Landin: 1987–2009

Abstract

As well as a computer science pioneer, Peter Landin was an amazing lecturer and perceptive adviser. Through anecdotes, this paper gives some insight into his unique style. In one of the anecdotes, the true origin of the title The Next 700 Programming Languages is revealed.
