Abstract
A distributed subchannel and rate assignment (DSRA) algorithm, which integrates the subchannel allocation and the rate assignment to minimize the number of subchannels needed for meeting the rate requirements, is proposed for the multi-carrier multi-cell networks. The DSRA algorithm need not measure the channel gains and executes the distributed power control to allocate the subchannel and transmission rate. One can decrease the number of subchannels used in the DSRA algorithm by increasing the number of iterations.
