An Exploration of the Application of Consortium Blockchain in Translation Services Industry

Abstract

There are some pain points in the current translation services industry. For example, mechanisms of market operations need to be further improved; conflicts among stakeholders frequently occur; translation quality is hard to be evaluated because of asymmetric information; and data resources in this industry are not fully utilized. In this paper, it is proposed that blockchain technology can be applied into the translation services industry concerning data transmission, privacy protection, and a service evaluation system. Then, according to actual requirements, the application of consortium blockchain in the translation services industry is also put forward. In addition, in the case of the coexistence of numerous nodes, a deployment model with the assistance of edge computing can address issues regarding data verification and high-speed transmission. This model is conducive to building an optimum credit system of “clients—translation companies— translators—regulatory agencies” as a whole, meeting requirements for real-time business processing, and improving service quality and business capabilities. By the development of specific applications, the effectiveness of the application of blockchain and the efficiency and stability of system performance are validated.
