Abstract

A mobile ad hoc network (MANET) is a temporary network of wireless mobile nodes that do not rely on centralized management or standard services. The mobility of nodes in MANET networks has a significant impact on network performance. Nodes’ mobility generates frequent network topology changes, which results in connection breakage, packet mismatches, and channel congestion and increases the time it takes to re-discover routes. The Internet of Things (IoT) is an innovative technology that connects physical objects with the virtual environment via non-homogeneous networks and communication techniques. With the help of wireless sensor networks routing protocols, the IoT in smart environments is becoming increasingly popular and profitable. Rebroadcasting or discarding transmitted messages is possible with the suggested method. These characteristics are considered in the route request and route response (RS) processes using precision findings to prevent broadcast storms and connection breakdown. The major goal of this research is to design and build an Internet of Things-assisted mobility-aware routing protocol (IoT-MARP) in improving the efficiency of the routing algorithm in MANETs. IoT-MARP allows the transmission of messages by enhancing the data routing strategy. The data transfer between the routing protocols helps in enhancing energy efficiency with less latency. This paper suggests a data routing strategy for the IoT based on WSN and MANET protocols. The results of the solution’s analysis show that efficient energy usage can be achieved in the worldwide MANET-IoT system. The suggested algorithm has been analyzed based on packet delivery ratio, average end-to-end latency, bandwidth, network throughput, and communication overhead, with a performance of 93.1%.
