Abstract
Modern cities seek to improve the life quality of their citizens by investing in both new technologies and green growth to meet any need at the technology and green management level. In the context of an evolutionary route, the vision of a smart city is a phenomenon that is visible every day around the world: in terms of new technologies and the green economy, the need to improve the functioning of cities is constantly evolving, while cities have different strategic approaches based on local reality and their own developmental needs to ensure a better quality of life and an ideal environment for the average person. Digitalization of cities is becoming a necessity in Greece, as they are lagging behind, while the examples of those who have done it are few, such as the cities of Trikala and Heraklion. Nevertheless, considerable individual efforts are being made, which need to be intensified so that more cities evolve in terms of new technologies, digital dynamics and green economy support as a basic prerequisite for their development.
