Tactile interfaces: technologies, applications and challenges

Abstract

Tactile interfaces are used to communicate information through the sense of touch, which is an area of growing interest in the research community. Potential applications include virtual training for surgeons, remotely touching materials via the Internet, automotive industry, active interfaces for blind persons, and sensory substitution devices.
