The international project ITER is aimed to explore and test the conditions needed to run a continuous process of nuclear fusion of hydrogen atoms forming helium atoms, in order to produce thermal energy for generation of electricity. The paper describes the magnet system necessary to securely separate the plasma from the vessels wall and explains the design of the coil system.
