Abstract

We study in this paper the performance of MIMO-RCB, in which a bank of receive combiners is added before the decoding (or detecting) unit, over the correlated fading channel. The analytical result and the simulation result both indicate that the SINR gain provided by MIMO-RCB and the received SINR of MIMO-RCB increase with the correlations over the correlated fading channel. Since the real channel is the correlated fading channel, the results obtained in this paper imply that we can utilize correlated fading to enhance the performance of the MIMO system by MIMO-RCB. Also, compared to most researches that use beamforming or prefiltering in the transmitter to cope with correlated fading, the results obtained in this paper imply that we can use combining in the receiver to acquire the benefit provided by correlated fading.
