Definition
Reports of payments to governments are a form of public country-by-country (CbC) reports. Reports of payments to governments are reports through which multinational companies disclose, to the public in general, more or less detailed information on where they have undertaken their activities and generated their revenues and profits, as well as other relevant information such as information about taxes paid and subsidies received.
Introduction
The notion of transparency has become one of the most important when discussing proposals for new types of public reporting by corporations. This importance is undoubtedly associated with the idea that corporate transparency is useful in fighting tax avoidance and corruption. These phenomena, tax avoidance and corruption, are certainly among the corporate practices most damaging to the corporations’ reputation and the public’s trust in them.
