Abstract

This chapter examines the effect of HBO on various elements of the blood: red blood cells (RBCs), white blood cells (WBCs), platelets, and hemoglobin. Particular attention is paid to the effect of HBO on stem cells. Effects on hemorheology and hematology parameters are considered in view of the role of HBO in the management of coagulation disorders as well as plasma and blood volume depletion. HBO has clinical applications in certain hematological and immunological disorders.
