Abstract
A generalized algorithm for compression of monochrome and color images with fast Harr wavelet transform was investigated in this paper. These algorithms were evaluated on the existing images processing system available in the Laboratory of Image Processing at NIU. Experimental results show that the algorithms presented are successful for high ratio image compression. Satisfactory reconstructed images with high ratio of compression are obtained. With those algorithms the computational complexity will be greatly simplified.
