Abstract
This paper presents a method that integrates local fractal dimension and threshold filter into a region growing algorithm for the segmentation of man-made regions, which are the region of man-made objects. First, we propose a new method of estimating the local fractal dimension of the nature image to make more stable and accurate. Then, the local fractal dimension feature is integrated into the region growing algorithm. Last, we use threshold filter method twice to produce a nearly accurate segmentation of man-made regions. The effectiveness of the proposed method whose aim is accurately segmenting man-made regions is confirmed through computer simulations.
