Abstract
The abilities of blockchain technology (BCT) to store and process data is of particular interest for logistics. Regarding the Chinese Belt-Road initiative (BRI) and its logistics challenges, BCT offers different opportunities. BRI itself is regarded as the world’s largest infrastructure and industry project since the Marshall Plan. Such global mega-projects require new technologies to overcome their challenges. BCT might offer the required solutions and can be essential to enable BRI in this regard.
Currently, no comprehensive analysis of the potentials and risks of BCT for the logistics of the BRI exists. This article, therefore, analysis the topic from different perspectives and develops the requirements for a holistic application of BCT in supply chains.
