Im Rahmen der Digitalisierungs-Bestrebungen rücken Business und IT zunehmend näher zusammen und erarbeiten gemeinsam Lösungen, um mit neuen digitalen Produkten oder automatisierten betrieblichen Abläufen das Unternehmen im Markt besser zu positionieren. Dabei kommen immer mehr auch Cloud-Infrastrukturen und -Plattformen zum Einsatz, weil ohne diese neuen Technologien und Adoptions-Methoden dem Umsetzungsdruck nicht termingerecht begegnet werden kann. Um dem Trend Schritt halten zu können, ist letztendlich ein großes und verwobenes Netz an Partnern und Service Providern erforderlich, da die eigenen Skills und Kräfte in der Regel nicht genügen, um eine rasche Integration neuer Technologien oder Cloud-Service-Angebote mit bestehenden Infrastrukturen zu bewerkstelligen. Und ehe man sich versieht, ist manches Unternehmen mit einem immer schwierigeren Multiprovider-Umfeld konfrontiert, unzählige Service-Provider mit 40, 50 oder viel mehr Verträgen auf ein gemeinsames Betriebsmodell einzuschwören. Dabei hat der CIO längst das Steuer verloren und seine verbleibende IT-Organisation wird von den Service-Providern vor sich hergetrieben.

Abstract

As part of the digitization efforts, business and IT are moving increasingly closer together and are jointly developing solutions to better position the company in the market with new digital products or automated operational processes. Cloud infrastructures and platforms are increasingly being used, because without these new technologies and adaptation methods, it is not possible to meet the pressure to implement on schedule. Ultimately, keeping up with the trend requires a large and interwoven network of partners and service providers, as the company’s own skills and strengths are usually not sufficient to quickly integrate new technologies or cloud service offerings with existing infrastructures. And before you know it, many companies are faced with an increasingly difficult multi-provider environment, with countless service providers with 40, 50 or many more contracts to swear in to a common operating model. The CIO has long since lost the wheel and his remaining IT organization is being driven ahead of him by the service providers.
