Abstract
The industry 4.0 platform consists of interconnected cyber-physical systems which are demanded to collaborate together in order to realize the vision of the fourth industrial revolution, namely the complete automation of industrial manufacturing processes. The collaboration is based on the exchange of valid and reliable quantities. This work details metrology challenges caused by the independency of the systems involved. Approaches of problem resolution are introduced. These will guarantee the uniform communication of measurement data between cyber-physical systems and therefore allow to automatize industrial manufacturing processes across company boundaries.
