Blockchain in der maritimen Logistik

Zusammenfassung

In diesem Artikel werden Einsatzmöglichkeiten der Blockchain-Technologie in der maritimen Logistik vorgestellt. Dabei soll unter anderem eingeschätzt werden, wie realistisch ein Einsatz einer Blockchain-Lösung in dieser Branche generell ist und in welchen Zeiträumen er zu erwarten ist. Derzeit sind viele Aspekte eines Einsatzes der Blockchain-Technologie noch unklar, sowohl technisch als auch organisatorisch und im Endeffekt ökonomisch. Zu klärende Fragen sind unter anderem, unter welchen Bedingungen Akteure in der maritimen Logistik überhaupt willens und fähig sind, Blockchain-Technologie einzusetzen und welche Risiken es gibt, welche Kosten entstehen, und nicht zuletzt auch, welchen Nutzen man realistisch erwarten kann. Der Einsatz reiner großer Blockchain-Netzwerke wird in der Branche für die nächsten Jahre noch nicht als realistisch gesehen, eher in 10 bis 15 Jahren. Möglicherweise wird es auch nur Hybrid-Lösungen geben, denn im Vordergrund stehen sinnvolle Anwendbarkeit und erzielbare Nutzen, nicht der Einsatz nur wegen der Verfügbarkeit der Technologie.

Abstract

In this article, application potentials of blockchain technology in the field of maritime logistics are presented. It is further assessed how realistic the use of a blockchain solution in this industry is in general and in which time frame a wide penetration in related transportation networks and supply chains can be expected. At present, many aspects of potential use cases of blockchain technology in the field of maritime logistics are still unclear from a technical, organizational, and economical point of view. Issues to be clarified include the conditions under which actors are willing and able to use blockchain technology, the risks involved, the costs as well as benefits that can be realistically expected. The use of large pure blockchain networks in the maritime industry in the near future is not yet considered realistic, rather in 10 to 15 years. Finally, maybe only hybrid solutions will be applied for the sake of achieving economical benefits rather than only using technology for its own sake.
