Abstract

Networks and distributed systems are an important field of research. To enable experimental research in this field we propose a new tool ToMaTo (Topology Management Tool) which was developed to support research projects within the BMBF funded project G-Lab. It should support researchers from various branches of science who investigate distributed systems by providing a virtual environment for their research.

Using various virtualization technologies, ToMaTo is able to provide realistic components that can run realworld software as well as lightweight components that can be used to analyze algorithms at large scale.

This paper describes how an additional virtualization technology from the Seattle testbed has been added to ToMaTo to allow even larger experiments with distributed algorithms. Moreover the paper describes some concrete experiments that are carried out with ToMaTo.
