Abstract
The use of network technologies in automation systems is increasing. The analysis of the resulting systems by simulation requires libraries of models that describe the temporal behavior of automation components and communication networks. In this paper, such a library is presented. It was developed using the modeling language Modelica. The resulting models can be simulated, for example, in the tool Dymola. The application of the presented models in open-loop response time analysis as well as in closed-loop analysis of networked control systems is illustrated by examples. Additionally, an approach to reduce the computational cost in the resulting hybrid simulation is presented.
