Owing to the increasing population health needs, the ratio of nurses and doctors to patients keeps diminishing, yet the quality in healthcare services is expected to rise. PINATA seeks to tackle this matter through the merging of Ambient Intelligence (AmI) and semantic web technologies. The quality of healthcare services is enhanced by the use of pervasive devices to help doctors and nurses to concentrate on the patient. In this paper we discuss similar AmI system architectures; sum up the physical and logical design of PINATA; give details of the knowledgebase modelled in RDF/S and the ontologies designed for components of interest, including resources and context-related notions. An additional set of classes and properties amalgamate these individual models into an associated, context-rich data model. The presented results were based on a number of tests done and are very promising.
