Long code acquisition plays an important role in deep space ranging systems. It is one of the key issues in acquiring long codes with high speed and efficiency. In order to get better acquisition performance, a new algorithm based on Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) and a series acquisition algorithm is provided in this paper. The algorithm consists of three parts, namely long code segmentation, Doppler Shift rough estimation, and frequency and phase joint two-dimensional accurate estimation. Long code segmentation divides the long code into several sections. A rough Doppler Shift value is obtained rapidly in the rough estimation part and the precise Doppler Shift value and phase value are obtained based on the rough Doppler Shift value in frequency and phase two-dimensional joint accurate estimation part. Our simulation results show that the new acquisition algorithm is able to acquire the long code accurately with low time-consumption.
