One of the key issues in the realisation of an avatar symbiotic society is making human-avatar and avatar-avatar interactions smooth and comfortable, thereby establishing safe environments where humans and robots can peacefully coexist. Therefore, we study “moral computing,” which detects and suppresses the low-moral behaviours of the avatar operator or those who interact with the avatar, as well as promotes better moral behaviours. However, there are technical challenges and ethical concerns in moral computing. For example, interventions in one’s moral behaviour may result in diminished autonomy. In this paper, we present past studies related to moral computing and discuss future technical and ethical issues.
